Background

Ambassador Muhammad Saleem is the current High Commissioner of Pakistan to Canada. He joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan (FSP) in 1995 and has served in several key diplomatic assignments. Before his appointment to Canada, he was Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Tanzania and also served in Germany, Bahrain, Romania, and Canada. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held important positions including Director General, Additional Foreign Secretary, and Director General of the Foreign Service Academy. Since assuming office in January 2025, he has been working to strengthen Pakistan–Canada relations in areas such as trade, investment, education, parliamentary cooperation, and engagement with the Pakistani diaspora. He is also Pakistan’s representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal.
