The CSS (Central Superior Services) exam in Pakistan consists of a total of 12 subjects. These subjects are divided into two categories: compulsory subjects and optional subjects. Here is the breakdown of the subjects:

Candidates are required to choose one subject from each of the six groups of optional subjects. The total marks for the CSS exam are 1200, with 100 marks assigned to each compulsory subject and 100 marks assigned to each optional subject.
