CSS (Central Superior Services) exam in Pakistan is not entirely MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) based. The CSS exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) of Pakistan to recruit individuals for various posts in the country's civil services.

The CSS exam consists of written papers, each carrying a significant number of subjective/essay-type questions. These written papers cover a wide range of subjects, including:

  1. English Essay
  2. English Precis & Composition
  3. General Science & Ability
  4. Current Affairs
  5. Pakistan Affairs
  6. Islamic Studies or Comparative Religion (for Muslim candidates) or Ethics (for non-Muslim candidates)
  7. Optional subjects (candidates can choose from a list of various subjects)

While some optional papers might include a few MCQs, the majority of the exam is based on descriptive questions that assess the candidates' analytical, writing, and critical thinking skills.

The Screening Test for CSS will comprise of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of one mark each.

The Screening Test is a qualifying exam that is used to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. The Screening Test consists of 200 MCQs, each of which carries one mark. The minimum qualifying mark for the Screening Test is 40%.
