Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone,
I have been preparing for PPSC posts for the last several months and one thing became clear very quickly: reading guidebooks alone does not move your score. Solving MCQs daily does.
Sharing the routine that worked for me, in case it helps someone starting now:
Daily target: 60 to 80 MCQs. Not 300 in one weekend session — daily consistency gives much better retention.
Subject split I follow:
- General Knowledge + Everyday Science — 30 questions
- Pakistan Studies + Islamiyat — 20 questions
- English (prepositions, synonyms, idioms) — 15 questions
- Maths / Intelligence — 10 questions
- Current Affairs — 15 minutes reading, no fixed count
The part most people skip: maintain an error log. Every wrong answer goes into a notebook with the correct option and the reason I got it wrong. After six weeks that log had almost 250 entries and it became my actual revision syllabus in the final two weeks.
Last 3 weeks: switch to timed papers only. In the real hall you get roughly 50–60 seconds per question, and that pressure alone costs 10–15 marks if you have never practised with a clock. Full 100-question paper every second day, and use the gap days for weak areas.
For daily practice I mostly use free solved MCQs GK, Pak Study, Islamiyat, English, Computer and 20+ other subjects, plus a quiz mode where you pick your own topics, question count and timer. Good for making a quick mock test at home.
Questions for the seniors here:
- How many MCQs do you solve per day before a PPSC written test?
- Do you revise Current Affairs daily or weekly?
- For BS-16/17 posts, which section usually decides the merit — GK or English?
