On March 26, 2026, the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) 14th Ministerial Conference got underway in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon. Over 120 delegations from the 166 members of the WTO, including over 80 trade ministers, attended the four-day conference on March 26–30. After the 10th Conference in Nairobi, Kenya in 2015, this was only the second time an African nation had held a WTO Ministerial Conference.
WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala attended the summit, which was presided over by Cameroonian Minister of Trade Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana. Agreements on fisheries subsidies, internet commerce, and a joint declaration on the first international investment agreement in history were among the major results.
