NATO countries, especially those in the Baltic region, have recently faced increased concerns over a “Baltic drone crisis” involving repeated airspace violations, drone incursions, and electronic warfare disruptions near Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

The situation has raised fears of escalation involving NATO and Russia, as several incidents include drones entering NATO territory during or after operations linked to the wider Russia–Ukraine conflict. In some cases, drones have been downed by NATO air policing forces after entering Estonian airspace, increasing tensions between the two sides.
