Saudi Arabia was one of the nations that formally joined the BRICS organization during the 2024–2025 expansion phase. Originally consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS grew to incorporate new members in order to bolster economic cooperation and grow its worldwide impact.
The goal of this expansion was to increase emerging economies’ representation and strengthen their voice in international financial and political issues. Saudi Arabia’s strong economic position in the Middle East and its significant role in the world’s energy markets make its inclusion particularly crucial.
Saudi Arabia can gain from stronger trade ties and cooperation with other BRICS members by joining the group. The growth also demonstrates how BRICS is becoming a more potent alliance that poses a threat to established international economic institutions.
