In March 2026, Chennai-based space startup Agnikul Cosmos successfully tested “Agnite,” a fully 3D-printed booster engine, at its in-house testing laboratory.
Standing one meter tall and composed of the superalloy Inconel, Agnite is the largest single-piece 3D-printed rocket engine in the world. Compared to six to seven months for conventional engines, the engine can be entirely printed in just seven days, resulting in a 97% reduction in production complexity. Additionally, it supports Agnikul’s reusability roadmap and offers precise control over engine output thanks to electric motor-driven pumps rather than traditional gas generators.
