Background of the Law Ministry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is responsible for drafting provincial legislation, providing legal advice to government departments, managing parliamentary business in the Provincial Assembly, and promoting human rights-related initiatives.

Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi served during the PTI government led by Pervez Khattak and played an important role in introducing legal and constitutional reforms within the province. Since then, successive provincial governments have appointed different ministers to the portfolio. Following cabinet changes in 2026, Aftab Alam currently heads the department.
