In response to Iranian shipping restrictions that endangered this crucial energy route, a coalition of 22 countries was established in March 2026 to guarantee marine transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

Every day, almost 20 million barrels of oil travel through the Strait, making its security essential to the world’s energy markets.
