Background of the Chief Minister of Balochistan
Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province by area and possesses immense strategic importance because of its natural resources, geographical location, and the presence of Gwadar. The Chief Minister serves as the head of the provincial government and is elected by members of the Provincial Assembly.
Before Sarfraz Bugti assumed office, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki served as the caretaker Chief Minister during the election period. Sarfraz Bugti has previously served as Federal Interior Minister and has held several important political positions in Pakistan.
