Background of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is one of Pakistan’s four provinces. It holds significant historical and strategic importance because of its geographical location and its border with Afghanistan. The Chief Minister is the head of the provincial government and is elected by the members of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Muhammad Sohail Afridi belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He became the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in October 2025, succeeding Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, who took office in March 2024. Muhammad Azam Khan served as the caretaker Chief Minister during the 2023–2024 election period.
